The enormous home we see spotlighted as the Mikaelson Mansion is an upscale condo residence in the heart of the French Quarter. Before the famous Mikaelson family, Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah Mikaelson with Marcel Gerard lived here. The Mikaelson’s home dates back to 1833. They knew it as the Delacroux or La Croux building before making it famous as the Mikaelson’s French Quarter home.
This building was a Creole Town Home. In the 1990s they turned the building into a twelve (12) units condo complex. The Originals production team did an outstanding job recreating the grand courtyard with lots of natural light entering through the shutters and French doors. The Original crew included the wood floors and high ceiling which make the units feel and look much larger than they are.
If one did not know they filmed the Originals television series on a lot in Conyers, Georgia, you would not expect the production team assembled this close a replica of this French Quarter complex.
The Originals production team also designed the luxurious, tropical interior courtyard and fountain. You can just see Klaus Mikaelson or Marcel Gerard on the gallery looking over the fountains and courtyard.
This site is just one stop on New Orleans film tour featuring The Originals film locations in the French Quarter.
